They sound similar, but what&#8217;s the difference?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><em>&#8220;I used to drink green tea.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><em>&#8220;I am used to drinking green tea.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Used to<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Structure: <\/strong>&#8220;<em>Used to<\/em>&#8221; + base verb<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Meaning<\/strong>: Something was true or happened regularly in the past, but not anymore.<br>Use this when you&#8217;re talking about a past habit or routine that has now changed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">&#8220;<em>I used to drink green tea<\/em>&#8220;, means that, in the past I drank green tea, but now I don&#8217;t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Examples:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><em>&#8220;Before I started driving, I used to cycle everywhere\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><em>\u201cShe used to live in London before moving to Paris.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><em>&#8220;We used to go camping every summer.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Be used to<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Structure<\/strong>: verb to be (am\/are\/is\/was\/were) + noun or present participle (-ing)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Meaning<\/strong>: You\u2019re familiar with something; it\u2019s not new, strange or difficult for you. Use this when you want to say something has become normal or comfortable for you over time<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">&#8220;<em>I am used to drinking green tea<\/em>&#8220;, means that it was strange or unusual at first, but now it\u2019s nothing of note. &#8220;<em>I am accustomed to green tea<\/em>&#8220;, has the same meaning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Examples:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><em>&#8220;Before, I cycled everywhere, but now I\u2019m used to driving.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><em>\u201cShe really missed London at first, but now she&#8217;s used to the city.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><em>&#8220;I grew up in the city, I\u2019m not used to camping\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Tip: You\u2019ll often see this one with the verb \u2018to get\u2019.
