Let\u2019s break it down so you can use them correctly and confidently!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A lot of \/ Lots of&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">These two phrases have the <strong>same meaning<\/strong>; they both mean <strong>a large amount<\/strong> or <strong>a large number<\/strong> of something.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">They can be used <em>before<\/em> both <strong>countable<\/strong> and <strong>uncountable<\/strong> nouns.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">with countable nouns:&nbsp;<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>A lot of <\/em><strong><em>students<\/em><\/strong><em> went to the game.<\/em>&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Lots of <\/em><strong><em>students<\/em><\/strong><em> went to the game<\/em>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">with uncountable nouns:&nbsp;<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>A lot of <strong>snow<\/strong> falls in winter.\u00a0<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Lots of <strong>snow<\/strong> falls in winter.\u00a0<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A lot&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>\u201ca lot\u201d<\/strong> on its own means <strong>very much<\/strong> or <strong>very often<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">&nbsp;<br>It\u2019s used as an <strong>adverb (of frequency)<\/strong>, not before a noun.
