These are small words that help us give clear information about time. They tell us when, how long, or since when something happens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">In this lesson, you will learn how to use at, on, in, for, and since. These prepositions are very common and will help you talk about time in everyday English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What are prepositions?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:1px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">A preposition is a word that connects one thing with another, showing how they are related.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Some prepositions tell you about time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">For example:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:1px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><em>&#8220;Many shops close <strong>on<\/strong> Sundays.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><em>&#8220;It snows <strong>during<\/strong> the winter.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to use prepositions of time<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>At<\/strong> is used with times: at 10am<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>In<\/strong> is used with months, seasons, years, and long time periods: in June, in winter, in 1975, in the 1980s<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>On<\/strong> is used with days and dates: on Monday, on 11 May<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>For <\/strong>is used with a period of time. It shows a starting and ending time: for six months, for 10 years<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Since<\/strong> is used with a starting point: since June, since 1572<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Now that you know how to use prepositions of time try listening for them in conversations, movies, or songs.
